In April 2024 the trial of ten defendants commenced at the Crown Court at Manchester; all ten were accused of the murder of a 16-year-old boy. Imran Khan led by Peter Moulson KC, represented an 18 year old defendant (aged 16 years at the time of the allegation) who was one of those acquitted by the jury on all counts.

Imran Khan and Adam Kane (Libertas Chambers) defended, Darius Blackburn, one of 5 men tried at Manchester Crown Court, for offences that arose when 2 rival groups from Huddersfield clashed at the Manchester Caribbean Carnival in August 2022.
The prosecution’s case was that this was gang warfare and that on the night, Blackburn who was armed with an axe was part of a group of at least 4 other men, some were also armed with bladed weapons, travelled from Huddersfield to Manchester where they were confronted by at least 4 other men from Huddersfield, some carrying firearms. This group shot live ammunition at Blackburn’s group. In retaliation Blackburn’s group were alleged to have chased the rival group which included Javell Morgan, who was stabbed through the back with a Samurai sword and died at the scene.
2 members of Blackburn’s group were convicted of Murder and in a separate trial members of the opposing group were convicted of Attempted Murder and Firearms offences.
The trial required a comprehensive understanding of the supreme court case of R v Jogee [2016] UKSC 8, concerning the principles of ‘joint-enterprise and ‘R v Heslop and Others [2022] 2 Cr. App. R.20 regarding the admissibility of evidence to show that the defendants were affiliated to street gangs.

Imran Khan led by James Mulholland KC was instructed to represent one of two defendants cahred with the torture and murder of a man 12 years ago in West Yorkshire.
Dariusz Michalowski died in 2011 but his remains were not found until 2020. His body had been buried in a makeshift grave by a reservoir in the Mixenden area of Halifax. An investigation identified the culprits after an associate decided to share the location of the human remains with West Yorkshire Police and the NCA.
The killing was characterised by sadistic conduct towards the man killed.
Imran Khan represents one of the lead defendant in Operation Waterloo at Lincoln Crown Court (£3.2 million drugs conspiracies)
Imran’s client was one of twenty-five, described as one of the leaders of a Lincolnshire organised crime group involved in the supply of industrial quantities of multiple drugs with connections to the Midlands and West Yorkshire.
Through robust submissions concerning, Imran was able to secure a lower sentence than had initially been indicated by the sentencing Judge.
Imran Khan represented the lead defendant in operation Driftwood at Lincoln Crown court.
Operation Driftwood was a covert investigation conducted by the East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU) concerning the unlawful supply and distribution of Class A drugs from the West Yorkshire area into Lincolnshire. During the investigation firearms and ammunition have also been seized.
Imran’s client was described as one of the main leaders of a Lincolnshire organised crime group
Instructed to represent the defendant charged with multiple counts of fraud including operating a fraudulent shares investment scheme through Lloyds Bank.
Imran Khan secured the acquittal of his client charged with s.18 GBH and Affray following a trial at Bradford Crown Court.
The prosecution alleged that the defendant carried out an unprovoked attack on the complainant causing him serious injuries including three fractures to the ankle and a fracture to the arm. The client denied inflicting any injuries.
At the conclusion of the trial, the jury returned unanimous not guilty verdicts.

Following a six week trial at Bradford Crown Court, Imran Khan led by Adam Kane KC (Libertas Chambers) and instructed by Jabran Hussain of Kingsman Solicitors achieved an unanimous acquittal for murder, attempted murder and GBH.
The defendant Aizaz Khan was the driver of a vehicle that carried five passengers into Bradford City Centre. The prosecution alleged that all six men were armed with weapons and carried out a revenge attack which resulted in the death of one man and serious injury to another.
Imran Khan, instructed by Evan Moore Solicitors, has secured the only acquittal in a six handed conspiracy to produce Cannabis on a commercial scale that spanned Yorkshire and Merseyside.
The case involved significant police surveillance and cell site evidence of multiple large cannabis farms. His careful analysis of the cell site evidence enabled him to show that the prosecution’s conclusions were flawed.
As a result of his efforts Imran successfully challenged the evidence presented by the prosecution resulting in a verdict of not guilty for his client.
